WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

In this 6 week detailed and tailored course taught by industry professionals, you will learn how you can create your own work by developing detailed characters, applying the basics of story structure and script writing to create content through accessible means.

You will write your own script, gaining a deep understanding of story, script writing and how to write great dialogue. You will then perform and record this to share as online content, use in auditions, on your showreels or as a showcase for your writing. 

Course length: 6 weeks, 2 hours a week with some work to do in-between sessions. One-to-one time guaranteed as well as group learning time.

KEY INFORMATION

If you’re an actor, performer or creative that has an active interest in creating your own work, learning about story structure, script writing and performing your original work to camera. Then this course is for you!

A short script of your  own creation, written to be performed by one actor, that you can perform to camera and then share as online content, use in auditions, on your showreels or as a showcase for your writing. 

A deeper knowledge and understanding of story, script writing and how to write great dialogue. 

A detailed and tailored course taught by industry professionals that includes one on one time with each student to use as you wish for either feedback on your writing or industry insights. 

Ideas for stories or characters you would like to explore with a view to turning those ideas into scripts that you will eventually deliver and perform to camera.

BETH GRANVILLE

Beth is a Comedy Writer and Performer that has worked across a huge range of comedy disciplines throughout her career, from performing comedy sketches in skittle alleys to appearing in Gavin & Stacey (BBC) and Stella (Sky One). 
 
Following the huge success of Beth’s debut Play Foiled (“The perfect comedy” 5*, The Stage) she went on to reimagine the world for radio. The award nominated sitcom (Best Radio Comedy, Celtic Media Festival) Foiled ran for four series, whilst breaking the record for most downloads for a BBC Wales Comedy on BBC Sounds. So loved was the show it hosted appearances from a plethora of stars – Miles Jupp, Derek Jacobi, Felicity Montagu, Vicky Vox and Ralf Little. 
 
Beth spent 2017 as part of The Comedy Room, the BBCs development programme for comedy writers and has written on numerous critically acclaimed shows. Most recently, the multi-award nominated The Skewer (Radio 4) and series 4 of the all female sketch show Welcome Strangers (BBC Radio Wales) which she is a lead writer on and also stars in. Beth has co-written two West End shows premiering at the Vaudeville Theatre, Alyssa Edwards, Memoirs of a Queen (Ru Pauls Drag Race, Netflix Dancing Queen) and Legends of Lockdown, Live!. 
 
Beth works as a Script Consultant, co-host’s a successful podcast Smashing Sundays with Lucy Pinder and writes and performs live sketches with Garnon Davies appearing most recently at The Glee Club and Backyard Comedy. Beth is currently developing an original pilot script with Mark Gordon Pictures.

TOM O'BRIEN

Tom is an award winning director who trained at the National Theatre Studio. He has worked as a director and acting coach all over the world, including for Cameron Mackintosh in the West End. Tom has directed his own work in London, Europe and off-Broadway.


He has collaborated with some of the world’s leading creatives, such as Julian Fellows and Philip Ridley, on globally renowned productions and has worked with Actors such as Derek Jacobi, Raven Symoné, Amy Louise Pemberton, Dylan Llewelyn, Vicky Vox, Jemima Rooper, Faith Alibi and Matt Willis on projects in a career spanning 16 years! As a director and coach, he uses theatrical techniques that have been passed down for decades combined with a fresh contemporary approach and currently works with clients based in London, New York, LA and Sydney!

Once you have purchased the course, you will be able to access the course page with the links to join the live workshop sessions. Classes will be available on catch-up for the duration of the course.
